St Andrews Kangeiko 2010

This year saw the second worst weather conditions amongst the Big Freeze of 2009-10.  We also had the incoming tide against us. During bow-in the water lapped already against the feet of Steve Bishop sensei and StAKC dojo leader Michael Gratzke. When we bowed out, the whole line-up was pressed against the flood defence wall.

In the hour or so in between, kendoka from St Andrews, Yugenkai (Dunfermline), Glasgow, Edinburgh and Hamilton did their best to adjust to the adverse conditions. Those who tried to keep their feet dry had to deal with the slope, which meant that they learnt about up-hill battles. Those who were less shy soon found themselves knee deep in the surf. The pictures speak for themselves.
